BibleSong
The goal of the education team is to share, read, talk, pray, bless, and to encourage families to do so, every night in every home. BibleSong is designed to reinforce that message by
providing families with the resources they need to make it a
habit and by providing kids with an hour to praise God with
arts and hands and voices.
When is Bible Song
Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m.
Why Biblesong
From Deuteronomy 6 to a dozen Psalms and Proverbs, from Acts 2 to Timothy with his mom and grandma, one can make a pretty compelling argument that faith
belongs in the family first, with church as a reinforcement, not a replacement, of parent’s duties.
It takes a rather large stretch to make the theological argument that the church should be doing
parents' duties for them, or in most cases, in place of them. Yet, the systems we have in place are
doing just that.
Sad thing: The wonderful Sunday School system—created 225 years ago for orphans—is now enabling and creating spiritual orphans. It's high time we change that. It's high time the church gave parents back to the kids.
What is BibleSong
Bible Song is designed to connect Sunday School to the home, and the home to worship. First, we immerse young people in a thorough understanding of a key Bible story by “singing, arting and signing through the Scriptures” each week. (Music, art, and American sign language help kids remember what they’ve learned.) Next, we connect church with the home in a nightly five-minute “Home Huddle,” preceded by a nightly pillow fight!
The week’s scripture theme is added to caring conversations and fun with families who commit to:
- Sharing Highs & Lows
- Reading/Singing/Signing
the week’s scripture verse together
- Talking about their day
- Praying for one another’s
highs and lows
- Blessing one another
We ask participating parents and children to promise to make this a key part of their family ritual seven nights a week.

How we got here
Emanuel was the New England host site for a national tour of FAITH 5, presented by
Rev. Rich Melheim, founder of Faith
Inkubators, whose vision is to spearhead a Christian education reform that restores
parents as the primary faith teachers, mentors and role models for their own children with church as reinforcement—not replacement—of parents’ duties. After the lay leadership
training event and Family Comedy Night, here is what families from Emanuel are saying….
"Katie and I left the Family Comedy Night very excited! We already do 3 of the steps in Faith 5, but are looking forward to introducing the other 2 to our family's nighttime ritual. Of course Katie LOVED the pillow fights and wants to do them too."
"I really feel that this program will help empower parents to bring faith in 5 easy, 5 minute steps to their homes. It's such a manageable way to do it!
Our family is looking forward to this fall and the new Bible Song program.”
“We need to do this with our family this fall – I love the process and what it has to offer our daughter.”
Where we're going
Want a great relationship with your kids?
Want openness, honesty, caring and sharing in your family?
Want to raise a child to be a strong, thoughtful, empathetic, positive, healthy adult out in the world some day?
You can’t buy that; you have to invest in it.
And the investment is the most expensive
currency you own—your time—invested in the most precious young person in your life.
