About Emanuel
So you're curious about us? Do you feel "called" to faith?
Emanuel was founded in the 1870's by Swedish immigrants who had settled in Manchester to work in the Cheney textile mills. While many things have changed, the core principles of who we are have not. We believe that we are called to be "Liitle Christs" to our neighbors. This is reflected in our worship, our programs, music, and in the partnerships we cultivate. Emanuel is a member of the New England Synod and The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Lutherans base their ethics, attitude, and actions on their neighbors' needs. As Jesus gave himself freely for us, so now we give ourselves freely for the sake of others. We are a "Reconciling in Christ" congregation. We have an official statement of affirmation that ALL are welcome for FULL participation in our church.
